Dr. Liao Yan of Beike Biotechnology Research and Development Center recently received a congratulatory letter from Elsevier, the top international publishing house. Congratulations to its research results titled “Cardiac Nestin+ Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Enhance Healing of Ischemic Heart through Periostin-Mediated M2 Macrophage Polarization” published in the internationally renowned journal “Molecular Therapy” on March 4, 2020, which is considered to be in line with Goal 3 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3) Relevant, playing an important role in helping to address some of the world’s toughest challenges, and being recognized and awarded a certificate of honor by Elsevier Publishing Group. SDG3 is: ensuring healthy lifestyles and promoting well-being for all people of all ages.

This paper mainly discovered a kind of Nestin-positive cells expressing in situ in the heart. It was found that it has the characteristics of mesenchymal stem cells and can be used to treat acute myocardial infarction with good therapeutic effect. It also elucidated its regulatory mechanism on the polarization of M2 macrophages. The research results make important contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. “Molecular Therapy” is a well-known magazine owned by the world-renowned publishing giant Elsevier. Its current impact factor is 12.4 (District 1 of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, TOP journal).
